Friday is one of the best days of the week, besides it being the start of the weekend, it’s the day we all anticipate artists releasing new music. There is no denying that some pretty killer albums had come out putting themselves into the potential of Album of the Year, on top of that we got the pleasure of getting singles from a handful of bands and they’re singles that are worth checking out.
Starting with a South Dakota metalcore band, Earth Groans. They had announced their EP releasing on September 3rd following the announcement was a single off their EP, Drink. If you’ve been looking for new music a little on the heavier side then look for further, the single deserves a solid ten with the guitar riffs and the killer breakdown, vocalist Jeremy Schaeffer comes through with strong vocals that it’s safe to say will probably give you chills once hearing this song live. If you’re looking for new bands to get hooked to this band needs to be added to the list, once releasing their EP it’ll be safe to say that we won’t be disappointed.
Next up on the list is Volumes' new single, Get Enough. Not only did we get the song itself, the band had also dropped a music video. The band had also included with the drop of the song the meaning behind it; “This song is about the point in someone’s life where everything eventually is for personal gain. The song is essentially having that conversation with yourself – a nice hard look in the mirror.” – Volumes, there’s definitely a message within it where I believe some of us could definitely use at this time. With this new single Volumes fans the older Volumes fans are happy to hear Michael Barr once again join Terry on vocals, last year the band had announced welcoming back in Michael to the band and with this new music it’s worth catching them on the road this fall and hearing this single on the setlist!
Last but not least is; In Another Life by Crown the Empire, featuring a name that is surfacing up in the music community that we should all know, Courtney LaPlante the vocalist for Spiritbox. Luckily for us this single was also followed with a music video, the mix of Andy Leo and Courtney’s mixes so well it has the whole fandom freaking out about this feature. Crown the Empire has completely done a 180 and surprised the fans with returning to a heavier sound, In Another Life falls into the category of post-hardcore with some modern metal elements. With this single it has everyone anxious to hear more from the band.
The list could go on about the releases that came out this last Friday, but these three are a definite must listen to, also adding on to the fact that all 3 releases have some killer artwork! Be sure to support these bands and go stream these singles and share it all!
