REVIEW: dirty dishes by slater davis

Slater Davis is a pop rock singer songwriter currently based in Los Angeles. In total, Slater has eight singles released starting from 2019 After teasing the song on TikTok for weeks, Slater’s newest release, “Dirty Dishes”, dropped last night and features vocals and guitar from Marcel Salapa. With Slater’s image and his sound, he’s like the mysterious bad boy that you probably should stay away from but we both know you won’t do that (it’s okay, I would do the same). Slater’s sound is like The All American Rejects and The Kid LAROI had a baby so if that’s your vibe check him out.

It reminds me of the song “Bullet” by Hollywood Undead, it’s upbeat and fun but the lyrics are deeper than that. I think this song is empowering, the message I got from it is “I’m trying to be better so accept me as I am”. Slater’s vocals draw me in the most, they have a sort of effortlessly rugged sound that definitely appeals to those that are big into rock music generally speaking. Not to mention the strong electric guitar that comes in at 1:49 is my favorite part, mostly because I like the heavier kind of music so that guitar coming in was music to my ears, literally. As someone who heavily relates to the lyric “I won’t lie I got a lot of issues inside my mind and therapy ain’t workin’” I can attest to needing people to just accept that i’m not perfect and move on.

I think we’re still only seeing the beginning of Slater’s music career and there’s so much potential for him to grow in the pop punk/pop rock music scene.
