Matty Reynolds is a nineteen year old indie pop singer-songwriter from New York and on August 13th he’s releasing a brand new single titled “(Another) Hotel Party”. Matty currently only has one other single released, “Last September”, which makes discovering his music all the more exciting. “(Another) Hotel Party” is like a coming of age movie all in one song and if you like music that sounds like it would be on a movie soundtrack this is the song for you.
After listening, it is clear that the lyrics invoke almost a nostalgia-like feeling. It made me think about how when I was starting to become my own person making decisions for myself, they weren’t always the smartest ones. But that is what being a young adult means. You try to make the most of every spontaneous adventure, but you worry about whether or not your parents would be approving or not, so you keep those stories to yourself. The lyrics “cause if they knew my secrets I know they would be a wreck, so i'll just keep these stories in my head until i'm dead” refer to that exact feeling with the help of the soft but upbeat acoustic guitar and strong vocals from Matty.
Overall, I'm quite impressed with the quality of this song from such a new face in the music industry. I think Matty Reynolds is one to watch as he grows into his music, he’s got a lot of potential.
