REVIEW: sting by emarosa

If Emarosa’s new album “Sting” is nothing else, it is undoubtedly, without question, fun.

The follow-up little brother to their break-out pop album “Peach Club” came out at just the right time to be the new electro-pop sound of the spring. “Sting” takes its audience through a variety of stories, feelings, and emotions while always maintaining this up-beat fast tempoed sound that has a way of commanding you to move along with it. Although the music is catchy and incredibly dance-able, there are a lot of emotions hiding in between the notes, so let's get into it.

Throughout the entire album, the incredible attention to detail is undeniably noticeable.

With the fade-in start with the first track “Preach,” the fade-out end of the last track “Dangerous,” and every single run in between, this album plays like a stain-glass mosaic. The bright, colorful aspects of pop are strung together in a way that conveys this perfect image of what it is to feel so much in a modern-day fast paced environment. It’s being the heartbroken youth of a big city, it’s the feeling of falling for someone new, it's the gossip you hear others talk about under their breath. This album sounds like what it is like to live in LA, which is a very beautiful and versatile picture to paint, and was done very well.

Although the band has left their hard-rock past behind, Emarosa does a good job of

honoring it. The song “INLA” has an amazing guitar track that compliments Bradley Scott’s

vocals, and the way ER White makes it sing along with him plays a heavy part in the emotion of the song. As mentioned before, Bradley Scott’s vocals on this album are nothing short of

impressive, especially on tracks like INLA, Stay and Attention. The sound of the band as a

whole is very clean, but the vocals give another meaning to the word. The control Scott has

paired with the crystal clear emotion you hear in his voice are what makes this album so

emotionally versatile. The music may take you on an up-beat trip, but the vocals keep you

tethered to the reality of his words.

The dazzling album that is “Sting” is an impressive blend of many clear inspirations,

carrying aspects of 80s pop, pop rock, and synth for a wonderful blend of new-age pop. This

ultra-expressive album is the perfect followup to the band’s breakout pop album (Peach Club), and it definitely secures Emarosa’s place in the pop scene for good.
