REVIEW: no need to serenade when you look at me by patras

Patras' new EP sounds as if listening to them comes with a built-in aesthetic, it

makes you feel cool. Simultaneously the rockstar's girlfriend and the rockstar themself. A little harder than their previous EP (Asking For Some Time), No Need To Serenade When You Look At Me brings a new vibe to Patras' overall tone and image. A development that has brought the band to a whole new level.

No Need To Serenade When You Look At Me is Patras' latest project that will hit the airwaves on March 24th, and it is definitely one to grab your attention. The two-song

duology that is No Need To Serenade When You Look At Me is much more than a couple of new songs, it's a feeling. It's smeared red lipstick and long leather jackets, it's the sound of a memory from the night before and the explanation of why you have a headache now.

Both songs have this perfect blend of the foundations of rock and roll from previous

generations and the modern style of indie surf rock; it portrays both LA's city life and the surf-sand-and-suntan lifestyle that is present on every coast. The brand-new tangy fuzz on the guitar is the perfect element to tie their music together, and I would count it as a great asset to the band moving forward. The drums and bass keep the music feeling alive while the guitar and vocals control the movement of both the songs and the audience. No Need To Serenade When You Look At Me is undoubtedly a wonderful addition to Patras' discography, and very telling of where they'll go next with their music and careers, and in my opinion, it's straight to the charts.
